Soak up the Real Latin America
Sunvil Traveller this week launches its new 2009 brochure, packed full of bespoke soft adventure trips to eleven countries for the more independent traveller.

New for 2009 are an exciting multi-centre Journey through the Andes, taking in Peru, Bolivia and Chile, a Galapagos Safari Camp, a jungle lodge in Costa Rica accessible by raft, and Mountain Lodges of Peru, offering the first lodge-to-lodge trek to Machu Picchu. A new name, Sunvil Traveller – real Latin America, replaces Sunvil Latin America, and highlights that this is an adventurous programme aimed at the more free-spirited traveller.

Comments Lloyd Boutcher, Director of Sunvil Traveller - real Latin America: “This year, we have focused on strengthening our existing programme by introducing new and unusual accommodation and a revised and expanded multi-centre section in response to consumer demand. All of our itineraries are designed for individual travellers (based on two sharing), not groups. It’s a privileged and flexible way to travel with a private driver guide that represents excellent value for money.”

He adds: “Our new branding now reflects more clearly who we are – soft adventure, bespoke specialists who delve deep into the real Latin America - its culture, traditions, local people and history. We are also proud to remain one of the most respected independent operators to Latin America and offer in-depth, impartial knowledge – whatever your needs we can tailor-make an itinerary to suit.”

What’s new for 2009?

  • The 21-night Journey through the Andes itinerary, which includes the vibrant cities of Lima, Cusco, La Paz and Santiago, plus the classic sites – the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, the Atacama desert and the salt flats at Uyuni. Prices are from £4,935 pp* (page 23).
  • The Galapagos Safari Camp: newly built and located in the highlands of Santa Cruz island with breathtaking views over the Pacific, it consists of nine luxury tents each located roughly 70m from the main lodge. Three nights’ half-board accommodation costs from £899 pp and includes flights from the mainland (page 108).
  • Mountain Lodges of Peru: four lodges, all built using traditional techniques, some with Jacuzzi. An exhilarating, lodge-to-lodge six-night trek follows an ancient trail called the ‘Salkantay Route’ through the Cordillera Vilcabamba mountain range (page 119).
  • Pacuare Lodge in Costa Rica: the best way to reach it is by raft on the Pacuare, one of the world’s premier white-water rafting rivers. Each of the luxury bungalows is illuminated by candle light and there’s a chance to enjoy a canopy tour through the rainforest. A 14-night itinerary including two nights’ full board accommodation at the lodge costs from £3,164 pp* (page 59).
  • Yungas in Bolivia: semi-tropical and a popular holiday spot for Bolivians, the laid-back atmosphere and stunning scenery of this region remain unspoilt and relatively unknown (page 138).
  • Two sections recommending a range of wondrous cultural experiences and quirky festivals and events that this diverse continent has to offer (pages 8-9 and 12-13).

*Prices are based on two sharing including return flights, internal flights (where applicable), accommodation with breakfast, an English-speaking driver/guide, transfers, and some excursions and meals.

The lead in price is £2,016 pp (two sharing) for a trip to Brazil, including flights from Heathrow, eight nights’ accommodation on a B&B basis and transfers.
